Leigh Sherry

Leigh Sherry is from Calgary, Alberta, and earned a B.A. from the University of Victoria in 2002. Following her undergraduate studies, she worked as a youth and family counselor before leaving for Glasgow, Scotland to pursue a master of laws degree in human rights law at the University of Strathclyde.

Upon her return to Calgary, Leigh worked as a policy analyst for a non-profit organization; her responsibilities included making presentations to members of the legislative assembly and members of parliament as well as drafting publications and serving on the Child Poverty Committee and the Aboriginal Inclusiveness Committee. During this time, she also served on the Board of Directors at the Women’s Centre of Calgary. She also worked as an addictions manager at a local treatment facility.

Following these experiences, Leigh moved to Saskatoon to attend the University of Saskatchewan, where she earned her juris doctor degree. During law school, she worked as a summer law student for the Ministry of the Attorney General in British Columbia. After graduating in 2010, Leigh articled at a criminal defence firm in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she gained experience litigating in both the Provincial Court and Court of the Queen’s Bench. She was called to the Bar in both Manitoba and Alberta, and she joined the firm of Soby Boyden Lenz in 2011.

In addition to her formidable educational, policy, and legal background, Leigh also draws on her experiences as a family counselor to serve her clients with dedication and compassion. Her practice involves a wide range of family law matters, ranging from divorce and separation to pre-nuptial agreements, child custody and access, spousal and child support, surrogacy, and matrimonial property disputes. Leigh Sherry enjoys a reputation for professionalism and efficiency, and works tirelessly to provide the best possible legal resources and advice to each of her clients.

Leigh is a member in good standing of the Canadian Bar Association (Family Law Subsection), the Calgary Bar Association, the Law Society of Alberta, and the Association of Women Lawyers. She is a Board Member of the Calgary Youth Justice Society.
