Tamasine I. Davies QC

To achieve longevity and success in the competitive world of law firms, it’s critical to assemble a team of driven, dedicated, and capable professionals whose education and experience enhance the firm’s ability to effectively serve its clients. The law firm of Soby Boyden Lenz has worked tirelessly to put together a legal team that is unequaled in the field of family law in Calgary.

Tamasine Davies joined the firm in 1994 and now serves as the Managing Partner for Soby Boyden Lenz. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alberta, and earned her law degree from Dalhousie University in 1994. Prior to joining Soby Boyden Lenz, she performed legal research on Aboriginal treaty rights and issues and facilitated Confederacy and Chiefs Conferences.

For most of her 18-year career, however, Tamasine’s legal practice has focused exclusively on family law. She has extensive experience across many areas of family law, including matters involving child and spousal support, property division, parenting plans, separation agreements, adoptions, and pre-nuptial agreements. She is passionate about protecting her clients’ rights and helping each client reach a customized solution for their family law issues. She seeks to facilitate alternative dispute methods and amicable resolutions whenever possible, but when necessary, she is a formidable representative in court and has argued cases at all levels of the Alberta court system.

Thanks to her depth of experience and her dedication to her craft, Tamasine has become a leader in the field of family law and in the Calgary legal community. She has served as the Provincial Chair and Co-Chair of the Canadian Bar Associate Law Day Committee, an event designed to raise public awareness of the justice system. She has served as an instructor with the Alberta bar admission course through the Legal Education Society of Alberta, and is a mentor for students at the University of Calgary, through the Canadian Bar Association Mentorship Program. She has also been instrumental in reviewing and updating family law materials for the Legal Education Society of Alberta.

Tamasine has shared her time and talents with the community through her work as a volunteer lawyer with the Calgary Legal Guidance, and as a member of the Board of Directors for the Calgary Counseling Centre, a non-profit organization that provides counseling services to assist families, couples, and individuals regardless of their financial means.
