Canada Pension Plans Appeals - Lomax Law Firm

The Canada Pension Plan exists to provide benefits on behalf of retired folks, survivors of deceased persons, disability, and children. Once these benefits are applied for, Service Canada works to determine if you are eligible and then provides a letter with the results of and reasons for that decision.

The Canada Pension Plan Appeals Process

If citizens disagree with the decision reached by Service Canada, it is possible to appeal the decision within 90 days of receipt. This is done through written request by the citizen or their legal representative.

There are three separate review levels in the CPP appeals process. Each one is different and may take varying degrees of time and effort to complete. It is important for you to provide as much information as possible throughout the appeals process. The levels are:

1) Request for Reconsideration

2) Appeal to a Review Tribunal

3) Appeal to the Pension Appeals Board
