Biography

As a student, Reeve never considered criminal law because he didn't think he had the public speaking skills to defend clients in court. Articling with one of Ontario's best cross-examiners, Clive Bynoe, changed all that. "It was the best thing I ever did," Reeve says.

Not only did the year he spent with Bynoe convince him to pursue criminal law, it also taught him integrity and professionalism.

After Reeve was called to the Bar in 1979, he opened a general practice in downtown Toronto. "I did every sort of law," he recalls. "You need to when you start out, because you need to survive." As time went on, however, other things fell by the wayside and he concentrated his energies on criminal law, both as a Crown Attorney and a criminal defence lawyer.

When Newmarket needed someone to fill in as a Crown Attorney for a day, Reeve answered the call. It lead to more work, and he eventually shifted his practice there, teaming up with David Hobson in 2001.

Today, his decision to focus on criminal law is affirmed with each and every case. He continues to thrive on the excitement of being in court and the satisfaction of helping people out of difficult situations, doing the best he can for every client.
